G. W. ColKitto

In Toleration

Tolerate hate, I think not,
only the lost would let prejudice go.
Let bigotry grow, we all fall,
each diminished, if we allow it to be
revealed without us shouting, clear
and loud, not here. It is anathema
to all we believe; creed or race is not
ever a reason to belittle.

There can be no retreat
once the fight begins. There is no
living with the evil mind. Stand tall,
each small challenge, each lie
rebuffed, defends the vulnerable, the poor.
Above the rabble rise, above the magma
torrent of their hate, with strong intent
end their blind intolerance.
